I remember a party...

... I think I was 15 years old... and it was at a friend's house. Well because I was 15 and so was she... it was her parents house. I had such a crush on this girl. It was an amazing soul destroying unrequited crush. She was going out with a guy that I though was a noodle, but in hindsight, they went out for quite some time so he couldn't have been that bad... not your typical 'week long relationship' that existed in high school. It was one of those parties where your mum picks you up at the end, so you'd better be careful with how much you drink... the last thing you'd want to do is slur your words in the brief conversation in the car ride home. I don't feel like putting the name of the girl down in print here... I doubt that's fair. I just remember and hang onto that strange disgusting enticing feeling I got in my stomach when I was around her. I'm not saying I don't get that feeling when I'm with my beautiful wife, but it's never the same as when you're 15, you're a young dude and you're just discovering the power the female form has over you. I sometimes internalise and rediscover those memories to help in songwriting. Well if I wrote about all the stuff I'm into now... I think people would get bored with songs about food, Jane, an outdoor spa and a grumpy as shit cat. Sometimes you just have to go somewhere inside that still hurts just a little bit... I guess there's no reason behind this blog; I was just thinking about that night... a fairly uneventful party that sticks with me just because of my age and the way I felt about a girl. Silly really... She's married with a gorgeous little baby now, and we both turn 30 this year. Inspiration comes from the most odd places... like a party, half my life ago.
