So… we shot the clip.  ‘Salvation Jane’ the video is in the can ladies and gentlemen.  I’ve seen the final edit and it looks cool.  For all the nerds out there we shot the whole thing on a Canon 5D which is a stills camera.  With all the trimmings and cool lenses we’ve got footage that looks phenomenal; and the coolest part about shooting at 30fps on a still camera?  Every still… is a photo.  HA!  Cool.

My little entourage and the boys from VIS online went out to York and shot it in one day.  We did some cool things too.  We dropped a piano off a crane.  Ahem… sorry… WE DROPPED A PIANO OFF A CRANE!  Kim, our trusty crane operator and owner of the farm where we shot it… BUILT a mechanism that released the piano with a single tug.  Check out the still shot in the gallery of the piano 50ft in the air.
So we’re all but ready to start getting the clip out there and on your televisions.  Late July/ early August will see the release of the clip and the first single, with the album not far behind it.  The album is off for its first press at the end of the week.  This DOES NOT however mean a launch is imminent.  Calm down.

We are yet to arrange a distribution deal, so we need a product in hand to ship around for that reason.  However you will be able to order 'Big' from the website very soon.

On another matter, I wanted to tell you about something pretty close to my heart.  I’m an ambassador for a new charity campaign for Lifeline called ‘HelpMe’.  I will tell you more about it soon when we’re closer to launching it, suffice to say I’m proud and scared at the same time.  I’ve opened my voice up in a different way and spoken about my journey with depression in hopes to raise awareness for this delicate issue.  I want everyone to know, LIFE will always be the better option; and if you’re reading this and you feel depressed, stuck or just stressed to the point where you can’t see the light… please call 13 11 14 and just have a chat with someone at Lifeline.  They genuinely listen and want to help in any way they can.

Ok… enough soap box.  Just before I go, I wanted to tell you about a gig I just did at The Ellington.  If you haven’t been there yet, you are a knobby.  It’s the COOLEST venue in Perth, I almost feel unworthy being there… he he…  I performed my first gig there as a blues/jazz vocalist and performed with an entirely new band made up of the cream of Perth’s musicians.  I sang songs I’ve never sung live before including some James Taylor, Robben Ford, Republic Of Loose, The Meters, The Neville Brothers, Three Dog Night, Chicago, Gnarls Barkley… we even did a jazzy version of my song ‘The Actress’ from the new album ‘BIG’.  I really challenged myself and had an absolute blast.  The gig was so successful that we’ve been booked to play again on Friday 13th August.  If you missed the first one… may I suggest you don’t miss the second!

Check back at the website soon for some more behind the scenes footage and stills from the filmclip shoot.
