It all starts now.
So as most of you know, BIG is now available. This day has finally arrived and I'm pretty overwhelmed with the positive response it's received already. We haven't 'launched' it yet, but that may be a thing of the past.
The days of recording companies blanketing the stores with albums and fanfare is on the way out. Fancy launch parties where the world SUDDENLY hears about a release are hard to achieve.
These days, it's a creeping release. The filmclip is out there, but it's not playing on the tele yet. The single 'Salvation Jane' is being heard, but it isn't on the radio yet. A launch party for the album is a 'cherry on the top' event that isn't high on the list of priorities, until all of these other things are achieved.
Having said that, the website orders have been good; and I'm so thankful to all the people who have bought it online or at gigs. I'll tell you right now, it's all helping me get to the next step....and the next step is, touring. I'll be doing a short run tour later this month around the bottom of WA (and maybe some northern gigs... I'll SEE!) mainly to get the word out regionally to my fans outside of Perth that the album is finally here, and then I'll be flying east to secure a distribution deal.
I'm telling you this, because I'm pretty sure, anybody who's reading this is a fan or a friend... and you'd be keen to know just how I'm going to get the album out there.
I'll be blogging again shortly to let you know how the tour is coming along, but until then, if you haven't bought your copy of BIG... grab it now before the world hears about it, and you can be THAT person in the conversation that says, 'yeah well I bought it before it was released in the stores'. It's wanky but it might just get her/him to sleep with you.
Be good kids.
Love Court.
