Albany!
As we were leaving Katanning, we just HAD to experience the greatness of the 'All Age Playground'... and the childhood memories of the ground proved popular with the rest of the boys in the band, as they ran from the Helter Skelter to the 'Big Satellite' acting like children let loose in a candy store. It was seriously fun to watch.
The trek to good ol' Albs was uneventful, but that CANNOT be said about the gig at the Prem...
Not only did I get to catch up with my primary school bud Reese... but Clay's sister Belinda and her partner Corey came down for a squizzy. Ryan (our sound lad) really nailed the setup today... not only was he swift... but he was NEAT! Needless to say, our stage looked awesome.
A few familiar Albany faces were seen, and the originals were warmly received. The CD sales proved it to me. We did quite well in Albany thank you very much! After showing the crowd the reason we were touring by playing them most of BIG, we went on and rocked the house out... I even picked the right covers tonight... Crunchy Granola Suite by Neil Diamond ACTUALLY was a huge hit with the audience...
...And before I forget... we had such a lovely surprise waiting for us when we started the gig in the form of some white choc and pisatchio cookies, homebaked by lovely girl named Mel... who I didn't even get to meet... she left the cookies for us, and had to take off. I was a bit blown away... the cookies were phenomenal. Shame the other boys in the band didn't get any... he he I kid, I joke, I jest. Thanks Mel.
Right now, my boys... (Haans, Timmy, Ryano & Shaun) and I are sitting in my room out the back of 'The Prem' sipping Jameson whiskey and polishing off the last of the cookies. We are really bonding and becoming quite a tight touring lot. Really having a blast on this, the first leg of the BIG tour.
It's such a shame I didn't get to spend longer in my home town... It's so picturesque... I got quite nostalgic tonight!
Tomorrow, Esperance! Big day tomorrow, long drive, voting (meh), and another BIG gig! Tell you all about it tomorrow!
BIG Loves,
Court.
