Jerdacuttup!
Esperance ended with a seedy wimper as we set sail for 'Jerdacuttup' a a farming district near Ravensthorpe. I honestly though we wouldn't be playing until the night time... little did I know, we had to get there, set up and play well before the sun went down.
After travelling the necessary k's out of Esperance, we hit the dirt track and found the 'Jerdy Hall'. The massive smell of sausage sizzle attacked my nose, but there was no time to lose... SET UP!!!
We started playing a little after 2:30pm, and straight away we knew this was to be a real highlight on the tour. The people were awesome, friendly and so appreciative; and so was I. We played for about 4 hours, breaking only to enjoy the fine food they'd laid out for us in the back... talk about spoilt.During the gig, all the kids from the school got up on stage and sang their school song and followed it by presenting a framed school photo to me and the boys for coming to help raise funds for their water tank at the school. I was genuinely touched... you should see it... it's just the sweetest thing ever.
After our magical gig we packed down and drove out to Allen & Gwen's house (our billet for the evening!) and promptly had the greatest time, yacking around the dinner table eating lasagne (cooked for us by one of the school teachers) and then playing pool in their games room and listening to tunes. It was such a great wind down to the tour...
The next day, we drove to the primary school to have a wander around, and meet the kids (officially) and have a bit of a jam. Before I knew it, it was time to get back on the track for the long haul back to Perth.
What a soul repairing day... Thanks Jerdacuttup... We will be back.
